Visualization: mental imagery and rehearsal for practice

The common factor is not glamour, but repeatability.

It can also help people who are temporarily unable to practise physically at full intensity, provided the task is familiar and medical advice is followed where relevant. An injured athlete may rehearse strategy, rhythm and return-to-training routines while doing approved rehabilitation. A musician travelling without an instrument may mentally practise fingerings and phrasing. This is not the same as maintaining all physical conditioning, and it should not be sold as such.
